Everybody gets humid under the mulch, which vanishes into the soil like magic. It amazes me to create 2 foot high piles of cardboard, newsprint, grass clippings, skunk cabbage leaves by the armfuls, layer upon layer, that simply keep decomposing down almost to the surrounding soil level.
